Alternate Universe: A Poem
By S. Rupsha Mitra
I have been fascinated by this idea of an alternate
Galaxy These notions of intergalactic spaces.
This simple thought on a molten starry night, how my
Solitude is shared, by you, love and the sky, silky as the
River – gushing wants as untamed love lying somewhere
I cannot touch. I cannot reach.
It ignites, it enchants when I wonder what happens, in this
Elsewhere, an alternate universe,
While I am experiencing deja vu in my soiled space,
Is it different there, are we, not strangers over that isle.
Do we meet there, and does this beastly being of love
Seem tangible, the bond- rigid and sturdy enough?
Do we love as I always imagined it to be,
Wholesome, strong selves never falling off the cliffs.
While I am still waiting, yearning and longing, does
This alternate universe offer something to fill this void,
This emptiness, this mud-soil with sweetened petals?
